The Brevard County Jail is under the control of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. There is just one jail location, with a capacity of 1,849 inmates. The average daily population is about 1,600. Commander Steve Fernez is in charge of the jail.

Visitation is done by video, either remotely or onsite, through Smart Jail. The onsite visitation center is located at the jail. Onsite visits are free, and each inmate is allowed four 30-minute visits per calendar week. Onsite visitation is available daily from 8:15 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 5:30 pm.

Inmates can schedule a video visitation with family or friends. Calls must be answered within a 3 minute window to begin the visit.

You can also visit remotely, and you can attempt to conduct a visit any time during the visitation hours. Remote visits cost 25 cents per minute. Remote visitation is available daily, from 8 am to 12 pm, 1 pm to 5 pm, and 8 pm to 10:30 pm.
